Create, coordinate, vibrate: Matea and her immersive internship at NRJ Global

Now in her fourth year at EFAP, Matea has already explored a wide range of creative industries—from fashion and music to audiovisual production and live events. Today, as a Communication and PR Officer at NRJ Global, she looks back on a journey enriched by meaningful connections, boundless curiosity, and a deep-rooted passion for media and music.

From EFAP to NRJ Global: The Key Stages of Matea’s Journey

Since joining EFAP, the school of communication, Matea has chosen to explore every facet of the communication field by immersing herself in very different internships: fashion, internal communication, music production, television, and then event management within the NRJ Group. Her step-by-step journey reflects a clear ambition: to evolve as closely as possible to artists, brands, and audiences, and bring large-scale creative projects to life.

With the energy of students who know exactly why they chose this career, Matea shares her path, her most significant experiences, what she learned at EFAP, and how she is now building a professional trajectory focused on music and media.

Hello Matea, can you tell us about your journey from your first days at EFAP to your current internship at NRJ Global?

After getting my baccalauréat, I had a very clear vision of what I wanted: waking up every morning to live my passion. Creating, initiating, telling stories, transmitting emotions… And above all, working alongside artists, creators, brands or entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life. That ambition naturally led me to EFAP, the school of communication, which would allow me to fully enter the world of communication.

My first internship, at Akho (a ready-to-wear brand), was a real springboard. I was immersed in a creative universe where every day was different. As a 360° communication project manager, I quickly gained autonomy and responsibilities. I created a new editorial line, organized a launch event, coordinated photo shoots… That month at Akho was intense, formative, and deeply enriching.

At the same time, the idea of joining the music industry never left me. I joined the music agency Résonne. Working in sales, reaching out to clients, negotiating… Imagining music video concepts, managing artists and their schedules… It was all completely new to me, and that first experience was a turning point.

I then joined CStar for a five-month internship. I created content for social media, carried out music monitoring, suggested new formats, and produced content during concerts and events. Technically, I improved tremendously. But my biggest achievement was overcoming my fear of public speaking: within a few weeks, I was conducting interviews with artists I admired.

Today, I am interning at NRJ Global, within the Strategy, Marketing & Innovation Division. My role is to organize and manage PR events for the Group’s clients: event concepts, logistics coordination, guest management… The NRJ Music Awards were a major highlight of my journey.

Is there an experience or a course at EFAP that particularly helped prepare you for your internship?

The event management courses helped me understand project challenges, anticipate needs, and manage logistics. As soon as I arrived on site, I applied these methods naturally. The public speaking and media training classes were a real revelation. They helped me grow in my ability to defend my ideas and address all kinds of audiences.

What are your daily responsibilities as a Communication & Public Relations Officer?

On a daily basis, as a Communication & Public Relations Officer at NRJ Global, I am mainly in charge of organizing and coordinating events for the Group’s clients. This includes conferences, receptions, and major events such as the NRJ Music Awards.

My work begins upstream with the design of the events: I think about the best concepts and ideas to meet client expectations, ensuring every activation is original, impactful, and aligned with NRJ Global’s strategy. I also handle guest management, particularly for concerts and partner events, ensuring the right attendees are present and have an optimal experience.

On site, I supervise setup, coordinate service providers, and ensure that every event unfolds perfectly for guests and partners. I work closely with internal teams—marketing and commercial—as well as external service providers to guarantee the success of each activation.

Finally, I contribute to the administrative and budget follow-up of projects, as well as the analysis of event results. To sum up, my daily routine combines creativity, organization, and coordination, always with the objective of creating memorable experiences perfectly tailored to NRJ Global’s clients.

What types of projects do you get to work on?

At NRJ Global, I have the chance to work on a wide variety of projects, all focused on creating unique event experiences for our B2B clients. Among them, I contributed to organizing evenings such as the Comedy Club for Rire & Chansons, where clients discover new comedy talents in a warm and interactive atmosphere. I also worked on NRJ Group’s 2025 Media Kick-Off, a flagship event bringing together all the Group’s brands and partners at the Trianon.

Alongside these major events, I’ve also worked on smaller, more intimate and creative projects such as the Bingo Disco evening, organized for our clients in a chic Parisian bistro. I contributed to the creation of the concept, imagining an original experience mixing modernity and nostalgia, with a bingo hosted by a drag queen and a dance party. On site, I managed logistics and the event flow, ensuring every client fully enjoyed the experience, played in teams, and shared a convivial, immersive moment.

Have you participated in any particularly memorable events?

Yes, I took part in an absolutely unforgettable event: the NRJ Music Awards 2025. This project was exceptional in every way, and I had the opportunity to contribute to almost every stage, from preparation to the final wrap-up. In the weeks leading up to the event, I was involved in designing partner activations, creating tailored concepts for each brand. The objective was to meet communication goals in a creative and impactful manner. I also managed client invitations, ensuring everyone was informed of the key moments and welcomed in the best possible conditions.

Operationally, I contributed to on-site coordination to ensure everything ran smoothly. This included the partners’ dinner at Le Fouquet’s, followed by the NRJ Global lunch on Ciro’s beach, the cocktail at the Majestic, and of course the red carpet and ceremony at the Palais des Festivals, ending with the private after-show reserved for clients and partners—a legendary VIP moment.

Throughout the project, I worked with a tight-knit and passionate team. The long preparation hours and last-minute adjustments were intense, but seeing everything come to life on stage and backstage was extremely rewarding. Knowing that our work directly impacted the client experience and the success of the event was a real source of pride.

What do you enjoy most about your internship at NRJ Global?

What I love most about my internship at NRJ Global is the unique combination of creativity, action, and constant learning. Every day is different and allows me to work on all aspects of event management and public relations, from creating concepts to executing them on site. I love being involved from the very beginning—thinking about partner activation concepts, imagining experiences that really stand out, and watching these ideas come to life.

I also appreciate the versatility of the role: one day I’m in a meeting brainstorming a creative concept, the next I’m supervising service providers on site, managing invitations, or handling the administrative and budget follow-up of events. It allows me to develop technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and gain a comprehensive understanding of what makes an event project successful.

But above all, what I enjoy most is the energy of the music and media industries. Working for a brand that shaped my childhood, meeting artists, and seeing the direct impact of our work on the client experience is a true privilege. Every event is a human and professional adventure: the intensity of preparation, the stress of last-minute details, and then that incredible satisfaction when everything comes together perfectly.

What advice would you give to future EFAP students?

Be curious and proactive. Read, watch, listen, attend events… every experience counts and can make a difference. Also, daring to take initiative and get noticed is essential. Opportunities don’t always fall from the sky—especially in competitive fields like music, television, or event management.

Send spontaneous applications, meet professionals, join student or association projects: everything you do will help you grow and open doors. I would also tell them to value every experience, even the small ones. Every internship provided me with concrete skills and helped me build my network. Even the tasks that seem minor at the time are opportunities to learn, to prove your reliability, and to show creativity.

Finally, working with passion and perseverance, while also knowing how to appreciate teamwork and shared moments, is essential. Kindness, curiosity, and positive energy are qualities that will always help you move forward.

What’s next for you?

I’m heading to Australia to study audiovisual production, as part of the second semester of my 4th year at EFAP. Looking ahead, I strongly hope to continue working in the music industry, discovering new roles, meeting inspiring talents, and taking part in large-scale projects—or even helping create entirely new concepts.

And because I believe every step prepares the next, I always keep in mind that the best adventures often begin where we least expect them… so I’m staying open to every opportunity!
