Fourth year - Mastering Marketing & Communication strategies
Strategic approaches in the communication and marketing sectors (240 ECTS)
Strategy and managerial skills are at the heart of the 4th-year Communication program. Students take ownership of the overall management of a communication department by mastering budgets, leading communication teams, and developing the ability to define a 360° strategy or specialized B2B or B2C strategies.As a prelude to a highly specialized 5th year, this program enables students to project themselves confidently into their future careers.
In the 4th year, three options are available to students:
- Join directly the Specialized MBA in Digital Marketing & Business (DMB) in Paris, available as an apprenticeship or in a work-study internship format.
- Pursue a generalist 4th year combining courses and an internship (6-month immersive internship), available across all campuses.
- Pursue a generalist 4th year in a work-study format (apprenticeship or work-study internship), available across all campuses.

What do I learn in my fourth year at EFAP?
The fourth year at EFAP marks a step up in expertise. Students delve deeper into communications and brand strategies, corporate and internal communications, as well as event management and crisis management. Emphasis is also placed on creativity, with modules such as the Talk Show Factory, creative advertising and graphic design, and on digital & AI (digital marketing, prompt engineering, the ethical challenges of AI). This year prepares students for more strategic responsibilities and project management roles.
What core courses are taught in Year 4 at EFAP?
The fourth year courses cover several areas:
- Strategy & communications: communications strategy, event management, media relations, brand content, crisis, corporate and internal communications.
- Creativity: Talk Show Factory, creative advertising, graphic design.
- Digital & AI: digital marketing & AI, marketing management, AI & prompt engineering, ethical and societal issues related to AI.
- Management & projects: project management, budget management.
These courses combine strategy, innovation and technology to prepare students for positions of responsibility.
Is there a compulsory internship in fourth year?
Yes, the fourth year includes a compulsory six-month internship, a real springboard to junior-level responsibilities. Students can also choose to spend a semester studying abroad at a partner university. This professional or academic immersion reinforces the expertise acquired and prepares students effectively for the final year of specialization.

Throughout the year, students take part in immersive educational events and challenges: Masterclasses with professionals, Creative Battle, Crisis Sprint (an intensive crisis communication exercise) and the AI Lab Day dedicated to the challenges and uses of artificial intelligence. These practical projects complement the theoretical courses and enable students to test their skills in real-life conditions, in direct line with market expectations.
Can you complete the 4th year as a work-study program?
Yes. Starting in the 4th year, it is possible to follow the program as a work-study option depending on the chosen format and campus. This pathway allows students to combine the development of strategic skills with continuous professional immersion throughout the year.
