Opening of Séries Mania 2026 with The Testaments

Presented in world premiere at Séries Mania, The Testaments stands out as one of the major events of this edition. A direct sequel to the universe imagined by Margaret Atwood, the series continues the story of Gilead several years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. Choosing Séries Mania for its exclusive world premiere confirms the festival’s strategic position in the international launch calendar. This exceptional screening will take place in the presence of actress Chase Infiniti, revealed to the general public in the film One Battle After Another.

The story unfolds several years after the original events and adopts a more choral narrative approach. While the first series explored oppression through a singular and intimate perspective, The Testaments broadens the lens by giving voice to a new generation of women. This narrative evolution explores transmission, memory and forms of resistance within an authoritarian system.

Ethernal: a sci-fi thriller at the edge of life

Presented in the Official Selection – International Panorama, Ethernal intrigues with its bold and unsettling concept: thanks to a technological device called “the Eternal,” the dead can now communicate with the living. David Novack, a former Criminal Investigation officer haunted by his wife’s death, joins a unit responsible for collecting postmortem testimonies from victims. But what seems like a routine investigation soon shakes his certainties and revives his own ghosts.

The Best Immigrant: when reality TV becomes political dystopia

Presented in world premiere in the Official Selection – International Competition, Dear Killer Nannies offers a new perspective on one of the most infamous names in organized crime. In Medellín, young Juanpi grows up in luxury, surrounded by bodyguards he sees as friends… until he discovers that his beloved “nannies” are actually hitmen, and that his father is none other than Pablo Escobar.
