👀 Our Top 5 Series You Can’t Miss at Séries Mania 2026

Each edition of Séries Mania showcases ambitious, bold and sometimes unexpected works. The festival is renowned for highlighting series from diverse countries and spotting the major narrative trends of tomorrow. Here is our top 5 series you shouldn’t miss!

Opening of Séries Mania 2026 with The Testaments

Presented in world premiere at Séries Mania, The Testaments stands out as one of the major events of this edition. A direct sequel to the universe imagined by Margaret Atwood, the series continues the story of Gilead several years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. Choosing Séries Mania for its exclusive world premiere confirms the festival’s strategic position in the international launch calendar. This exceptional screening will take place in the presence of actress Chase Infiniti, revealed to the general public in the film One Battle After Another.

The story unfolds several years after the original events and adopts a more choral narrative approach. While the first series explored oppression through a singular and intimate perspective, The Testaments broadens the lens by giving voice to a new generation of women. This narrative evolution explores transmission, memory and forms of resistance within an authoritarian system.

Ethernal: a sci-fi thriller at the edge of life

Presented in the Official Selection – International Panorama, Ethernal intrigues with its bold and unsettling concept: thanks to a technological device called “the Eternal,” the dead can now communicate with the living. David Novack, a former Criminal Investigation officer haunted by his wife’s death, joins a unit responsible for collecting postmortem testimonies from victims. But what seems like a routine investigation soon shakes his certainties and revives his own ghosts.

Blending crime thriller and existential science fiction, Ethernal questions our relationship with memory, grief and technology. If you loved Black Mirror, this series is definitely for you.

The Best Immigrant: when reality TV becomes political dystopia

In an independent Flanders of the near future, a far-right government orders the expulsion of all residents born abroad. For Muna and Jamal, this decision means arrest, separation and deportation to different countries. Their only chance to stay together? Taking part in The Best Immigrant.

In this ruthless reality TV competition, contestants battle to secure a residency permit. Survival becomes spectacle, and integration turns into a scripted challenge.

With its radical concept, the series twists entertainment codes to deliver a sharp critique of migration policies and the spectacle of power. A striking dystopia in line with genre fiction that examines contemporary excesses.

Dear Killer Nannies: an intimate dive into the Escobar empire

Presented in world premiere in the Official Selection – International Competition, Dear Killer Nannies offers a new perspective on one of the most infamous names in organized crime. In Medellín, young Juanpi grows up in luxury, surrounded by bodyguards he sees as friends… until he discovers that his beloved “nannies” are actually hitmen, and that his father is none other than Pablo Escobar.

Told from the perspective of Juan Pablo Escobar, the series explores childhood at the heart of the largest criminal empire of the 20th century. Between fascination, fear and an impossible legacy to escape, Dear Killer Nannies revisits the myth through a deeply personal and political lens.

Privilèges: ambition and power games in a Parisian palace hotel

Presented in world premiere, Privilèges takes us behind the polished façade of a Parisian palace hotel, the Citadel. Adèle, a young former inmate in reintegration, secures a job as a bellhop thanks to a program set up by the hotel’s powerful director, Édouard Galzain. A tacit pact quickly forms between them.

What appears to be a second chance turns into a subtle power struggle. Ambitious staff, influential clients and external networks all seek to gain the upper hand. Gradually, Adèle transforms survival into strategy.

A tense social thriller, Privilèges explores class dynamics, redemption and the pursuit of power in a world where luxury conceals invisible battles.

Séries Mania: a showcase of the major transformations in the audiovisual industry

Over the years, Séries Mania has become a true barometer of industry change. Productions are increasingly international, with cross-border co-productions multiplying and stories circulating globally. Non-English-language series from Europe, Asia and Latin America now reach worldwide audiences, making linguistic diversity a strategic asset.

Formats are evolving as well. Mini-series, hybrid storytelling and content designed for mobile consumption reflect new viewing habits. Communication plays a central role: a series’ success depends as much on its digital strategy and storytelling as on its artistic quality.

For communication students, these shifts represent a unique observation field where marketing, culture and innovation intersect.

Why EFAP is strengthening its commitment alongside Séries Mania

Eight editions of partnership reflect a coherent and long-term vision. By collaborating with Séries Mania, EFAP places its students at the heart of the transformations shaping the cultural and audiovisual industries.
