Star Academy: Behind-the-Scenes Immersion for EFAP Students
On November 14, 30 EFAP students had the unique opportunity to attend the live recording of a Star Academy prime-time show. A valuable experience that allowed them to explore the inner workings of a major TV production and observe communication, production, and stage direction professionals in action, live.
An Educational Outing to Star Academy
As soon as they arrived at the studios, the students were able to discover the behind-the-scenes world of one of the most iconic programs in the French audiovisual landscape. Guided by the production team, they took their seats in the stands, carefully observing the first steps of the shoot preparation.
The warm-up host set the tone, gave instructions to the audience, boosted the energy in the room, and prepared the stage for the professors, the contestants and the former students. A crucial warm-up to ensure a lively show on screen. Then the real action began: the arrival of the teachers, the Academy students, former contestants… and the many audience members.
Between Showmanship and Precise Logistics
The EFAP students then attended the Top 3 battle, the singing and dancing performances, the stage productions, and the emotional moments that make the show so powerful.
But what they will also remember is everything that doesn’t appear on screen: the second a performance ends, a technical crew springs into action to transform the set — changing scenery, adjusting lights, repositioning artists — ensuring the continuity of the show. An intense rhythm, perfect coordination: behind the entertainment lies a true lesson in logistics and communication.

Did you know?
A TV prime-time show like Star Academy requires more than 150 people behind the scenes:
- Stage managers
- Production coordinators
- Assistant directors
- Lighting, sound and video technicians
- Community managers handling real-time content
It’s a complete ecosystem where every role is essential to ensure a smooth live broadcast!
Discovering the Behind-the-Scenes of Communication Professions
Beyond entertainment, this experience allowed the students to better understand the mechanics of a media event in real conditions: team coordination, image management, real-time communication, live production…
Attending a large-scale shoot is also a way to grasp the collective effort, creativity and responsiveness required to produce dynamic and engaging content. Essential skills for all communication careers today.
Through experiences like this one, EFAP offers its students far more than theoretical training. They are immersed in the real world of the industry, in environments where precision, coordination and creativity come together in real time. Key competencies for those aiming for careers in communication, media, events or brand content.
